The Khopra valley is located away from the busy trekking trail Annapurna Sanctuary with better and closer view of Annapurna South, Hinchuli, Fishtail, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna Fang and mount Nilgiri. The biggest attraction of this trek is exploring Khaire Lake (holy lake) where we will have day hike from Khopra. We start our trek on 2nd Day with short flight to Pokhara and drive 2 hours and start the trek from old Syauli bazaar. We leave main trail after Tadapani village. The remote area of Khopra valley and Ghandruk village is suitable for anyone who can walk ups and down for 5 hours every day. This trip featured 2 nights in Kathmandu, 1 night in Pokhara and 9 days in trek.

Itinerary
Pick-up at Tribhuvan International Airport, meeting with your guide and transfer to the hotel. First impressions of Kathmandu (1 350 m) – walk to medieval Kathmandu Durbar Square and explore the beautiful complex of palaces, temples, shrines and courtyards built by the ancient Nepali kings between the 12th and 18th century. We bring you to our office and Thamel – the vibrant tourist area with hotels, restaurants, bakeries and outdoor shops. We get to know each other over a welcome dinner, check formalities and equipment and discuss your itinerary.
We take flight to Pokhara by 7:45 AM and have breakfast at Lake Star Hotel in Pokhara. After breakfast we will start drive to Syauli Bazaar for 2 hours where our trek will start and end at Ghandruk village. The vibrant Gurung village of Annapurna region where will spend first night. Ghandruk village offers amazing view of Machhapuchhare (fishtail), Annapurna South and Hinchuli peaks.
After breakfast our trail continue upwards through Deurali and into the dense rhododendron forest. The spring season is the best for beautiful rhododendron blooming everywhere around Poon Hill and Khopra valley. The rhododendron flower is Nepal’s national flower. After lunch at Deurali we will walk for 2:30 hours to reach Tadapani village. It’s small village with many Tibetan souvenirs salers. From our hotel garden we can see Fishtail and Annapurna south if the days are clear.
From here we leave the main trail for 4 another nights inside the remote area including Dobato village. The trail is more easier but gaining altitude. The trail is full of alpine flowers and dense forest of Rhododendrons tree. The area is rich in diverse flora and in fauna. Also today’s walk offer the view of mount Dhaulagiri and Annapurna South. Tonight at community lodge. We will walk 4 hours in total.
After breakfast, we descend through open ground and beautiful forest to reach the pastures of Lower Chistibung. Next, we ascend gradually through a forest before reaching Upper Chistibung which is a temporary herder’s settlement. If you’re lucky, you might even spot the colorful Danphe, the national bird of Nepal, as well as Himalayan thar on the grassy ridge high above the trail. Overnight in Upper Chistibung.
We embark on a steady climb above the tree line through alpine meadows and pastures to reach Khopra. As we approach Khopra Ridge, we see the tip of Annapurna South. Upon reaching Khopra we go for a short walk down Khopra Ridge to a viewpoint overlooking Kali Gandaki river far below in this deep valley. From Khopra we also admire the stunning mountain panorama including Mt. Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri and Annapurna South. Overnight in Khopra. We walk 4 hours in total today.
Our main aim of trekking this area is to see ultimately Khaire Lake, a sacred lake in Annapurna region. In In this lake you can see the amazing reflection of Annapurna South and Fang and it’s very sacred for many hindus and Buddhist people. Today is the longest walking day and lake is located at 4500 m. Our trek starts early and pack lunch will be carry by our guide and porter. We will walk 8:30 hours in total.
From Khopra village we descend off the hillside and continue downhill on a steep trail. Along the way we get more views of Mount Dhaulagiri with the mountain providing a lovely backdrop to the terraced fields and traditional houses in the nearby villages. Overnight in Swanta village and we walk 5 hours in total.
From Swanta we descend through the village fields to a small river and take a quick look at the local water mill. From here we cross the suspension bridge and head upwards to the village of Chittre, where we’ll join the main trekking trail at Ghorepani. After Ghorepani we descend through rhododendron forest to Ulleri where we stay the night. We totally walk 6 hours today.
On our way to Thikhedunga through beautiful landscape view of all the mountain and even Pokhara. In 2 hours we catch the Jeep for Pokhara. After a lunch, we start sightseeing in Pokhara and paragliding.
We drive to Sarangkot hill for sunrise view, the magical sunset viewpoint of Pokhara. We take our breakfast and fly back to Kathmandu. In the Evening we walk to Kathmandu Durbar square and join for farewell dinner at Third Eye Restaurant in Thamel, Kathmandu.
