The exotic lowlands of Nepal situated in the southern regions of Nepal, are covered by dense sub – tropical and tall sal and swampy grassland forest. Traveltimes Treks offers exiting wildlife safari tours in Chitwan, a premier wildlife viewing national park situated in the heart of Terai.
The Chitwan National Park covers an area of 932 kms including hilly areas of the Shivalik Range and floodplains of the Narayani and Rapti river which are covered by dense tall elephant grass, forests of silk cotton, acacia and Sisam trees. The Royal Chitwan National Park was officially established in 1973 and incorporated as World Heritage Site in 1984.
Its the home of various wild life including endangered Asian species like one horned Indian rhinos and royal Bengal tigers and other exotic animals like the leopard, the sloth bear, different types of deer, leopards, bisons, wild cats and dogs, crocodiles and 450 species of birds. It is a true heaven for birdwatchers. Traveltimes Treks can highly recommend an early elephant ride, bird watching on the Rapti River and the daily elephant bathing. Our itineraries range from one to 6 days out of Kathmandu.

Day 1 Kathmandu to Chitwan National Park
7:AM – Tourist bus ride from Kathmandu to Sauraha, Chitwan National Park.
The bus will stop on the way for breakfast and early lunch break. 2 PM Arrival at Sauraha bus station and short transfer to Green Park Resort.
Green Park Resort is a comfortable hotel situated in Sauraha within 300 m from Rapti River, the National Park and the elephant riding point. The rooms have a terrace and garden views. The hotel has a restaurant, bar and a refreshing swimming pool. During your stay at Green Park Resort the meals and activities mentioned in the program are included. The hotel organizes the wildlife activities in cooperation with the local authorities. On arrival the hotel staff serves refreshments and organizes a briefing about the resort, the facilities and activities.
Lunch
Village tour with local guide on ox cart, the traditional transport of the Tharu people where visitors experience their traditional lifestyle of the Tharu tribes. You see mud and clay-built houses with thatched roofs and will learn about the life style of the indigenous people who lived for hundreds of years in the forests of Terai and farm rice and lentils now and hunt wild boar, deer, rabit and river fish.

Jeep Safari
A half day jeep safari with a trained naturalist is a good way to explore the grassland and dense forests of the 932 square km Chitwan National Park. It’s the home of 43 species of mammals and if lucky you are able to rhinos spot leopards, sloth bears. Very rarely you could have an encounter with a Royal Bengal Tiger!

Canoe ride
Another great way to explore the beauty and wildlife of Chitwan is to paddle with a boatman and guide in a wooden canoe the calm Narayani river. Spot birds on the way, gharial crocodiles, deers and maybe elephants or rhinos on the banks coming down to the river to cool off or to drink. On the way you visit an elephant breeding center.

Bird watching
Chitwan is home to 544 pieces of birds. The wetlands and rivers are the reasons resident and migrating birds like to come to this beautiful park. Take your binoculars and camera and look for Giant Hornbils, kingfishers, darters, hoopoes, honey buzzards and many more.
