Kathmandu Valley

Kathmandu Valley Trek treats you on fabulous sightseeing in Nepal’s capital, and a short scenic trek around Kathmandu Valley. After 2 days exploring the historical attractions of Kathmandu. We start hiking to Suntarijal Hill, which reveals views to the rugged mountain wall of the Himalaya which are hardly visible from Kathmandu. The coming days we head to the hill stations of Chisapani (2 100 m) and Nagarkot (2 175 m) from where you can observe the Himalaya from your hotel balcony. In Nagarkot you enjoy a panoramic view over the Himalaya including Mount Everest (little more than a dot on the horizon), Kanchenjunga in the east, Ganesh Himal (7 406 m), Langtang Lirung (7 246 m), Shisha Pangma (8 012 m), Dorje Lakpa (6 975 m) and Gauri Shankar (7 146 m).

During the trek, we not only indulge ourselves in beautiful mountains sights and local village life, we also discover Hindu and Buddhist sacred places including Dhulikhel, Panauti and Namo Buddha. At the border of Kavre district and Bhaktapur, we climb to the world’s tallest statue of Lord Shiva (44 m high), we explore exquisite carved Hindu shrines in Panauti and attend a meditation session with the monks in the Buddhist monastery of Namo Buddha. According to the Buddhist legend, Namo Buddha is the place where one of the past Buddha’s offered his body to a starving tigress so she could feed her cubs. His reliquary stupa remained underground for centuries. Namo Buddha is a sacred place for Buddhists and many pilgrims come to both the stupa and the monastery.

Before returning to Kathmandu we explore the untouched medieval city and world heritage site of Bhaktapur which is blessed with historical palaces and temples, craft works and rich local customs. Kathmandu where you can make a cycling tour or enjoy more sightseeing, shopping or relaxing in the Garden of Dreams. The close up mountain views to Himalaya, bathing in clear winter skies and the rich cultures and traditions of Nepal will not be forgotten soon!
